Head of Staff
Pastor Bill Lamont was born, raised, and schooled in Ontario, Canada. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue. They have two children and two grandchildren. Bill received his Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in Toronto, and his Masters of Divinity at Knox College, University of Toronto, Ontario. He was ordained in 1983 and has served churches in Saskatchewan, Ontario and, for the last 14 years, at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church in Newport News, Virginia. He is a guitarist, woodworker, puppeteer and golfer and feels that his grandchildren are among God’s greatest blessings.
Richard Jernigan, a native Penscolan, is a Professor of Music at Pensacola State University. Richard received his AA from Pensacola State College, a BA from the University of West Florida and earned his MA degree from Louisiana State University. A professional musician, he plays clarinet for the Pensacola and Mobile Symphonies. Richard loves sailing on Pensacola Bay, or trail riding with his chestnut mare, Bitsy.
Monika Durbin received her B.A. in Music Performance from The University of West Florida. She often plays woodwinds for the Pensacola Little Theatre, flute for the Choral Society of Pensacola, and flute for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. She appears as a guest artist (flute and harp) on two CDs by Celtic band Sweet Prospect: Cold Frosty Morn and Lark Song. Monika enjoys playing harp with the Pensacola Harp Ensemble. She teaches private woodwind, piano, and harp lessons at her home studio in Pensacola. She and her wife Lia have one daughter, Cai.
Joy Schulz is a native of Gulf Breeze and received her B.A. in Education from the University of West Florida. She has developed several non-profit outreach ministries within our community assisting those in need, as well as, served on various boards in local Santa Rosa county schools and recreational parks. She has been married for 31 years and has three sons. She is an avid runner, enjoys long distance biking and spending time at the beach.
Karen Reid relocated to Gulf Breeze from Fairfield, Florida, a rural horse farm community, located north of Ocala in January 2017. She found GBPC through our website and started attending our worship services where she discovered our welcoming active congregation and became a member. She previously was an elder and served as treasurer for the First Fairfield Presbyterian Church
for over 22 years while she and her husband raised a blended family of 6 children. After retiring with an extensive office manager and HR history, Karen became GBPC’s Office Administrative Assistant in July, 2017.
